    Stream of Tiny Bubbles?

I think that's actually a good sign - it means your water is saturated with oxygen and your plant is photosynthesizing.

    Duckweed & brackish water

I use it a lot, well actually it's not exactly duckweed, but that's what they called it at the LFS. It's bigger, so it doesn't get blown all over the tank, but it doesn't drop long roots like frogbit. It looks like Butterfly Fern to me. I use it to balance my tanks and soak up nutrients...

Will it thrive, die, or merely survive?

    Seeking Nanoadvice...

Hello - I have a 15 gallon tall nano-reef that is one month old. 20lbs live rook, 20lbs live sand. The only equipment is an Aquaclear500 filled with 4lbs of live rock rubble, a heater and a carbon insert. So far, so good. Cycle is finished, parameters are good, algae is under control. I have a...

    Scale

Thanks tankGirl I'd never heard of aquatic mint or baby's tears, I'll look into those. The first three or four tanks in "Nature Aquarium World" are incredible, hard to believe they are all <5 gallons...

    Do Plecos Eat Live Plants.

I had a bristlenose do a number on some Amazon sword leaves that had some algae on them... He's in a tank with vals, java fern, java moss and crypts and those are all fine so far. I wouldn't trust him with big, leafy plants.

    Shrimp buffet

Will 4" Angel fish eat Amano shrimp? How about a 2" Chameleon fish (badis badis)? Anyone have experience with these two fish and Amano shrimp? Thanks

    10g reef stocking question

Hi - I have a 10g nano-reef that's cycled, with 12lbs. live rock, 20lbs. live sand & 10lbs. of crushed coral. I want to add a cleanup crew consisting of scarlet hermits, Margarita and Nassarius snails. My question is, how many of each would you add? thanks

    Scale

The trickiest thing I've found about aquascaping a smaller tank is finding plants of proper scale. Most are too big. What are the best "miniature" plants/plant combinations?

    Aquascaping opinions...

Speaking only for myself, I find that limiting to only 2 or 3 kinds of plant really helps focus. I would scrap the onion plant, vals and marimo balls and get a lot more Ambulia & Hairgrass. Move the driftwood to the right, plant some of the Ambulia behind it and a little more on the left side...

    Finally got my test kit...

I know this is an old thread, but I just had the same problem with the Hagen high range pH test. It shows purple if you look at it under yellow lights, like most house lights. The directions tell you to avoid yellow light. I checked it under a power compact flourescent 6700k bulb and it was...

    Ligthing...Mini lights from coralife

I have used the mini-freshwater aqualight on a 5.5 gallon for six months. I'm growing dwarf hairgrass in it and it is doing very well. I don't think it would be enough for a ten gallon though. Coralife "aqualights" come in a 20" size that works well, gives off 28 watts. They don't cost that much...

Recommendations for a 10 gallon boys tank

I keep Dwarf puffers with pygmy cories without any problems. Dwarf puffers are the ultimate cool fish. They are like little torpedoes, vicious little blimps that can blow themselves up, and even if they loose a fight, the "victor" is likely to die of food poisoning. They are crustacean killing...

Gloves: to wear or not to wear?

I have a recurring problem with some kind of fungus-like rash. Looks like very mild poison ivy. I seem to get it after cleaning the filter on one tank in particular. Some antifungal cream seems to make it go away but it's a little worrisome. At first I was afraid my fingers would fall off at the...

Small tank, sandy substrate. What looks good behind a thick foreground carpet of dwarf hairgrass? Light is 3 WPG + Hagen CO2. Thanks -
