Yes sry astrea snails and I went thru it a while back and they wouldn't leave each rock til it was completly gone actually pretty impressive how fast they ate it.

Aptesea snails do a great job eating the hair algae.

Well that's prb y ur getting hair algae the damsel alone is prb to much of bio load for a 2.5 not positive on that since I have never had a small tank but pretty sure its to much for a 2.5

Speaking of emerald crabs. From what I understood they do not fight among themselves but woke up to a battle royal on my toadstool leather.

Emerald crabs do.do wonders but if there is alot they wont dent it much. Get about one astrea snail per 5 gallons the even eat the base of the hair algae so as long as u eliminate what is causing the outbreak they will get rid of all that's left.

Lots of possible reasons for hair algae. To much light will accelerate the growth but there is still an underlining cause. A couple of them being over feeding, using tap water because it has phospatea in it, not a sufficient clean up crew and excess waists builds up fueling algae growth.

I am aware of that once one starts that fish will be out of the tank. I have had my niger with shrimp crabs corals for a yr now so far so good and the hawkfish and foxface for a little over 2 months and same with them.

I had to return my henacious as well he thaught my acans were his lunch. And since they cost more the B&W lost and got returned lol. But I really did like home always out in front swimming around.

Patience is key trying to catch them I was able to pull it off in a 180 with 300lbs of rock. One was with a trap the other I snagged while feeding some flakes to get him to the surface.

Thank you very much! Hope so. But no drama in tank at all right now. There hasn't even been a bad look sent his way since I put him in. Which is an excellant change since catching the two black and white monsters(damsels). With them anything I tried adding was a coin flip it sucked.
