Tried that when I did my last water change, as soon as I stick my net in they hide. They have got another few days of trying before I start taking rocks out!!. It's a cobalt blue zebra, red top afra and a lab that are holding so I am lambing on stripping them into my fry tank together.

Ok, thank you I will stick my filter outlets higher tonight and put an air stone in to creat surface movement.

I have the black algae, it is just part of having Africans, most of the fish graze in it, I like it it makes everything look natural and blended into each other. Some flake food we feed them is algae based, some people I know try and encourage it to grow as its a free food source.

I use NLS, and flake bit worried that NLS everyday may be a bit bloaty!! I freeze pellet for fishing but never thought about doing it for aquarium fish, why would you need to??

Thank you, got another lab holding, and both red top afra holding ( blue and black one ), so really happy,need to setup a fry tank. Saying that though I have got one lab youngster survived in tank, very good at hiding etc!
