Hi Newlywed, When cylcing I tend to use danios (zebra or giant). They are fun species to watch and more importantly I have never had one die on me, although before adding them I still wait about a week.

For each 29H setup I have done, usually runs me $1000 before I even buy fish.

I had the same exact problem with my Giant danios. Two methods worked for me: - Hold the net with the opening facing upwards and snap up the net as the fish swim over it. - Use 2 nets and chase the fish with one and catch with the other. Bottom line is that it is all luck :) Rob

In my past experience it is not good to put any plecos in a young tank simply because there will be nothing for them to eat. You can feed them allege wafers but it is best to do it when the lights are off. A small school of tetras would probably make good tank mates.
