    Any Thoughts on this setup:

It looks like a fairly decent deal, I was looking on their website and they had a dual 400w Metal Halide with 2x110 VHO's on either side of the retro kit for roughly $460, (I could be slightly off on that price) but it seems like a reasonable price, I wrote the company in regards to the...

Checking on their website http://www.cooltouchighting.com they do have their products on there, as well as you can call them on the 800# and receive the same price for the one they had posted on EBAY. CUNCH

    Good sand substrates

Depending on your location, many people are having a problem finding the home depot Southdown Play sand. I managed to find a home depot (Chicago) which had the sand in stock for my 110g reef tank. I was curious to see if the sand was good for freshwater tanks, but I guess this forum covered that...

    Good open water/mid-high tank swimmers?

Hello, I have a 110g tall that will be setup very soon, to fill the top part of the tank I like Chromis (In a school), FireFish, Banghaii Cardinals, ultimately I would choose a school of chromis, their hardy, passive and look great when swimming in a school of 6 or more!! Cunch

    new tank-need help

My recommendation would be to do some research on this site and other various sites before you jump into the hobby, a 30 gallon is quite small for both a trigger fish and a lionfish. Before you jump into this great hobby and waste a lot of time and money on a tank that could be unsuccesful...

Hahha, Please send it over.... Actually maybe you can help me out, in regards to your tank -- What do you have as an overflow or means of getting the water to the sump? What kind of lighting do you have on yours? I was thinking of 2 400w 10k & some PC as well... Any thoughts?? Thanks for...

ASM or Euro-Reef Skimmers, Depth in a sump?

Well after discussing this with my father who is a hell of a wood worker, we're going to build an aquarium stand for the 110. The current stand is 24" high, I am thinking since this is a tall tank to begin with (30") I could raise it almost 12 inches and bring that tank up to eye level (stand at...

ASM or Euro-Reef Skimmers, Depth in a sump?

When you say can be, Could it also stay out of the water? Reason being, is I have about 22 inches to work with under my stand, that skimmer is way too tall if I put it in the sump and hope ot work on it in the future.

ASM or Euro-Reef Skimmers, Depth in a sump?

Hello All, Thanks to all who look at these messages, I am in the finishing stages of designing my sump/refuge filtration for my 110g reef tank. I have the dimensions of my sump and refuge and now I am looking at skimmers, between the two very simular designs: ASM & Euro-Reef, does anyone know...

I need your help! **Sump/Fuge** Question

I see what your saying, that sounds like a great idea.. I never thought of it that way. I called my co-workers dad and he can build me a sump (36xi14wx12h) for $130 with any additions on the inside. Anybody find that a reasonable price for a sump that big? Or should I look around more for...

I need your help! **Sump/Fuge** Question

Thanks for the help, I believe I am going to get the sump made 36xi13xi12 which will give me a full capacity of 24gallons. I am looking at the ASM Skimmers --- someone on another post informed of this brand which is a made by the same people who made Euro-reef. Any knowledge of that? Should...

I need your help! **Sump/Fuge** Question

I put that sentence in regards to the 1200gph wrong, 1200gph was my total flow rate through out the tank. I am under the misconception that 1200gph flowing throughout the tank would also be the same amount of flow going through the sump/fuge. Cunch

I need your help! **Sump/Fuge** Question

I was originally going to use a 33gallon tank as my sump, but it turned out too be way too tall with only about 1.5" clearance from the top of the 33 to the top of the stand.. Would I be better off having a sump on one side and a separate refuge on the other end of the tank? Is 1200gph too...

I need your help! **Sump/Fuge** Question

Hello all, A co-work of mine informed me that his father owns a plastics company and can pretty much build me anything out of Lexan very cheap. I now have an opportunity to build a custom sump or fuge at an affordable price. I have a 110gallon Aquarium that measures 48" L x 19" W X 30" H...

Which Would You Chose For Skimmer?

Need some Advice on 110gallon Filteration

So if I have a bed 6" or 7" is that going to be harmful as stated in the earlier messages.. or will this be a safe height for the substrate? Is it typically the same depth for refuges as well??? Thanks Cunch

My southdown sand was frozen solid from Chicago, I simply placed it on a old blanket and cardboard and it thawed out in my living room within 12 hours or so.
