Doesn't look too healthy to me... Nems ain't supposed to be white/clear. Looks to me to be extremely bleached and has expelled its zooxanthellae.

Depends what you want to keep coral wise and how high you hang it I guess.

I just run live rock and a skimmer and have 0 nitrate. But I don't run and substrate, always go bare bottom so no junk can get bound up in the sand. Just sayin.....

Could take a few weeks, they tend to sulk for a few weeks then you should start to see the white growth tips.

Just put it in and it will look after itself. They would grow in a toilet bowl in my experience. Yes it will encrust and grow very quickly indeed.

To have alk of the charts you must have been adding it? I don't know of a salt that comes with that high alk. Alk being depleted is normal, I don't think alk going up is.
