    At the Museum

I was at LACMA yesterday after doing some extra credit for Biology and since I had some passes I never used I decided to visit it. Looking around the place was pretty cool, but I think this was the coolest piece of art out of them all! Sorry the description is kinda blurry. Hope you liked the...

    Look What I Found at a Chinese Restaurant...Take 2

I was dining at a local Chinese restaurant for Christmas dinner, guess what I found! Well, it's been there for awhile, just decided to post it now :) It seems around 4-5 ft long, anywhere from 55-90 gallons approx. I think it is stocked with two damsels, an ocellaris clown, and a tomato clown...

    App Bugs?

Hi AA, The app has been acting up lately. Often when I try to use it the app does this to me and then crashes. It takes a few reboots and re-installations before it starts working again. Is there going to be a fix for this? Thanks :)

    Some Plant Questions

Hello everyone! Don't know if you know, but I have some ludwiga respens and rotala indica/rotundifolia in my tank, they're doing okay. But... have a question about them. I think they're supposed to be super red plants, but so far they're struggling. Ludwiga especially. It's taken it about...

Tell People The Truth About Bettas

Today I was killing time at Petco and it's just killing me inside how a mom and her little kid are just buying a small one gallon kit and a betta right now. I have tried telling people before that you need to keep Bettas in a proper home, but they just don't listen. I doubt they'll listen to me...

pH Changes Over a 24-Hour Period???

Just wanted to know if this was true. Got it from a recent book at the library, from 2005-2006 I believe. During the day "Carbon dioxide acidifies the water. The plants absorb this for photosynthesis, so the water is less acidic: the pH goes up but stays within the normal values and has no...

Five Reasons Why You Shouldn't Overstock

There are plenty of reasons not to overstock, but here's the ones I have found most important and interesting, and frequently mentioned: 1. Just because fish are small doesn't mean they belong in a small tank. A betta is not going to have much room to swim in a small glass bowl you got him...

To Sump or To Not to Sump?

I was considering a sump for my forty gallon because everyone here's raving about them. But um...I don't know what a sump is. Well, I have a basic idea kinda. It's like where water overflows into a tank below, right? And then it goes back up? Is a five gallon sump big enough for a...

    Urgent help please

Dunno if you've been reading my build thread but all my rummy-noses died and so did my betta. I was thinking pearl danios or praecox rainbows as a replacement because it's gotta be big, I'm thinking the angel nipped them to death. Suggestions???

Look what I found at a Chinese restaurant...

Actually I've been to this place for quite awhile, but we had a big dinner there tonight and I decided why not share with everyone else on AA? The tank seems anywhere from 10-12 feet long, and 1-2 feet wide. All live rock, some fake dried out coral and sponges, and white substrate. I estimate...

Getting the Dirt on the Inch Per Gallon Rule and Stocking

Many people starting the hobby are mis-informed about exactly how many and what type of fish they can keep in a tank. For example, I've seen someone at a local fish store recently asking about why their chinese algae eater was growing so big and attacking other fish in their five gallon tank. I...

Have Some Questions On My Lighting and Plants

So I finally got the Zoo-Med Aquasun T5 HO 36" fixture I wanted! It's working great. Although it took a little bit of trouble to setup (I accidentally broke the splash protector, had to use lots of tape!) it provides lots of light to my thrity gallon! The fish are all happy and healthy and...

    It's Betta Bruins!!!

So today I went to Petco, just browsing around the selections, seeing if they happen to have anything I wanted. Believe it or not, there were no dead fish in the tanks, and they were all happy and very healthy. The lady seemed to know her stuff, so I decided that this was a very decent Petco. I...

    Stopping All These Emails?

Hi, I have a problem with all these emails. Every time I reply to a thread it automatically subscribes me to it, which is fine. The problem is that every time someone subscribes to them I get an email. Today when I checked my email I had over 1000 emails! Last time I checked I only had 2, but...
