    you are cycling to get the good bacteria which will build up mainly in your filter. you can take out all the gravel, fish, and water and put them back in after you switch the substrate. However, make sure that your water is dechlorinated with prime or something so that your bacteria don't die...

    wow i didn't know the flow was adjustable on the aquaclear filters. I only have an aqueon filter so i had no idea on aquaclears. if the flow is adjusted, would the gph change too?
