I have a 60litre biorb and need something small-ish to eat up some algae, any ideas?

Could you keep a cherry shrimp with male guppies or would they harrass it?

I have just got 3 ember tetras and plan to get 3 more next week. I then plan on getting 3 male guppies but was wondering if this would mean my 60 litre tank is fully stocked or if i could add something else? This is my first tank and i don't want to over do it.

I tested the water yesterday, and tonight the nitrate test seems to be showing up a slightly lighter shade. Nitrites are off the chart and i need to add more ammonia. Could this just be that i didn't shake the second nitrate test bottle enough yesterday? I'm certain i did it right tonight even...

I'm considering buying an aqueon water changer but was just wondering about the temp of the water going in to the tank. Is it ok to fill with coldwater and wait for the heater to warm it up or will this cause too much stress to the fish? I don't have a mixer tap :-S

Sorry title should say nitrites! day 10 of my fishless cycle and no nitrites yet. I'm pretty sure ammonia's no higher than 4ppm, by the chart it seems to be betwen 2&4. I was thinking do a pwc to bring it down slightly and see if things get going? Good or bad idea?

I have a 60 litre biorb and have heard that the filters aren't very good. I was wondering if it was neccessary to change the filter cartridges every 4-8 weeks as the manufacturer suggests. After doing a bit of research i have decided that the biorb will be upgraded eventually to a better tank.
