Be careful just rinsing out your filters and carbon. You may be killing off helpful bacteria. Should I clean my skimmer when I empty the cup, or is it better to just empty the cup and allow the gunk to build up where the bubbles form? I've heard two seperate answers, one friend told me it promotes bubbles, the other said it's just restricting the flow.

What other life do you have in the tank? It could be too many or too little depending and how much waste is being produced.

Mine do it all the time, if I let it run for about 5 minutes it'll normally go away. If it doesn't then I give it a good smack and it stops lol. Like everyone else has said it's just a fan, they're not hard to replace.

If you have recurring issues with Aiptasia I would highly recommend a peppermint shrimp. Yes, something they will not eat them but the majority of the time it seems like they will.

I wouldn't be too concerned. I've had toadstools stay closed for a month before. They're VERY hearty. If it starts looking very unhealthy I might worry but if it's just closed then I wouldn't be concerned.

Sounds like you're on track, like ^ said, get your salinity down to 1.025 roughly and you'll be good. Your tank will spike Nitrates, trites, and Ammonia. Just monitor it for a week or two until it settles .

I'm going to be using a 33 long that I have for my sump. My question is what do you guys think would be the best baffle setup? I.E. how tall should each baffle be and what about the bubble trap, should I just raise the one piece 2 inches above the bottom of the tank? Would that be adequate?

That is terrible news. Is it destroyed beyond repair? If not I would attempt to have a new bottom piece installed.

I run one powerhead along with the stock one, I'm not sure if 3 would be ideal or not, I know I haven't found any dead spots with my current setup but it will also depend on your rock setup. A picture might help or Carey may have some advice

I do like the idea of a cover like yours. I'm actually thinking of just drilling the tank and have it feed the sump then have a return on the same/opposite side. There will be plenty of room below the tank as it's going to be on a custom cabinet setup.

I cycled my 29g biocube with Damsels. I ended up moving one to another tank after about 2 months so he'd have more room. The one is about 8 months old with no problems. Good luck!
