Think of getting one. Anything I should be worried about?

So I have three snails in a small 10gal tank. Two of the, seem to be OK. But the third one is just floatimg around the top of the tamk. He did this last we came back. I don't know what wrong

I have heard of people feeding there fish fruits and veg. And I guess my question is..can you? Is that ok? And if so what are some fruits and veg that would work best?

I hear a lot of people who done use any salt in there tanks. I don't understand why? There are more positives to using salt then not using it. Can anyone tell me why you would not use salt?

So today I noticed my red tail shark looking really sick. Looks like fin rot. But has these white spots on the body. I know it's not ick. All my level are looking good. Any ideas?
