    Hard spikes

We took some snails & crabs after a friend had to take his down. All his crabs and snail have hard spikes growing on them, apparently he had quite a bit of these spikes on his rock & power heads too. They are really hard and possibly hollow. Dont seem to grow very big. Havent noticed anything...

    UV Sterilizer

Yeah, I've been hearing mixed reviews also. Thanks for sharing your experience. Have you noticed any negative effects of using the UV?

    UV Sterilizer

Just in the processes of switching over our reef tank from a 50 gal to a beautiful 175 gal. Bought the 175g second hand and got a few extras with it, like a UV sterilizer. Never used one before and wondering what the pros/cons are if used on a reef system.

Hair like arms coming from rock...

Anyone know what this is? These hair like tentacles/arms stretch out across my sand periodically. It collects debris so i havent worried about it too much. And don't seem to cause harm to corals. They are smooth like hair, not brittle star like. It moves around too, but have never seen it do...

asked this ? before but need second opinion

I agree with Ricksreef, looks like a Flower Pot Coral - True Red (Goniopora sp.). I have a small one in my tank. When not extended, it looks like a porous red rock. Kinda like lava rock. I've included some pics of mine if it helps.

    Black clown fish

We have a couple tanks, the one in the pics is a 36 g. We only have the two black clowns in this one now, because our larger clown got aggressive so we relocated him to a different tank. How come u ask?

    Black clown fish

Yes, I think u guys are right! These clowns look really similar to the pictures I looked up of the saddleback, only slightly brighter yellow then most of the pics I saw. But one sight did say that color could vary quite a bit. They are fairly small right now, Any idea if there coloring will...

    Black clown fish

Hi! I just got these black clown fish that have yellow mouths/fins. It is hard to tell by the pictures but the yellow is really bright (like yellow tang bright!) The lfs just called them black clowns. Has anyone seen clowns like this? Curious if they are a specific species. Or if they are...

    Mysterious bright red cone...

Thx for the suggestion ;) I checked out chili coral pics and most of them polyps. This thing doesn't have polyps. It has a fairly smooth surface.

    Mysterious bright red cone...

We bought a blue sponge about a month ago and recently this red cone has popped up on the same rock. Its a bright red, brighter near the top than the bottom. It slightly expands and contracts periodically... Maybe filter feeding. Has an opening at the top (mouth?) Any ideas on what it is?

What kind of crab is this?

Thanks for the link joy13! I dont think it's a porcelain, I didn't find any pictures that looked similar. But I did find a picture in the Xanthid species that is really close! I think it is probably in that species ;) thx for the help!

What kind of crab is this?

No, i don't think it's a Pom Pom. Doesn't have the characteristic "Pom Pom" arms. It has large white claws. I never bought this crab, it must of been a hitchhiker in some live rock I got at one point.

What kind of crab is this?

I found this crab in my tank. Wondering what type it is and if it's reef safe? We've had some corals mysteriously dying off lately (we have good water conditions) and wondering if this guy could be the issue. We transferred him to a different tank for now until we find out more about him.
