    Starting my first Saltwater tank!

    I need help starting up a shopping list for a good Salt water tank. All I know is I'm eyeing a 55 Gal bow front, and I want a school of Green Chromis Damsels (I think that's what you call them?). I don't know the first thing about salt water tanks so please help point me in the right direction...

    Koi pond needing help

    There's a pond where my mom works that she's now in charge of..and it needs some SERIOUS help. I don't know the exact specs on it, but from what I've heard it's totally self maintained (as in...they're too lazy to watch over it until i convinced my mom to do something about it) It has a double...

    Newb didnt research and is in over his head now please help!

    The cloud is probably a bacteria bloom. No worries! It's all a part of cycling and should go away in a few days. Once cycling is done you'll want to do about 10-20% water changes weekly, and then vacuum once every 1-2 weeks. Good luck on your first tank! :D Addictive isn't it?

    50% Water change too much?

    you think distilled will be ok? cause I know it has neutrients from the water taken out due to process...

    Nitrite problems

    The larger the tank the easier it is to care for. It'll keep your water more stable with less drastic changes in temperature or ph when changing out water. But since you already have this fish in the 10 gal (I'm guessing it's going to cycle since you changed the filter), I wouldn't suggest...

    HELP my goldfish

    You REALLY need to monitor your water! I can't stress it enough. What looks fine to you might be slowly killing your fish. And you really shouldn't add anymore fish until you tank is done cycling... Have you ever tested your water for Ammonia, NitrIte, and NitrAte?

    50% Water change too much?

    Well... I can't find a source of water that doesn't have that much nitrate in it. X.x! My water out of faucet has that amount and the spring water from the store has it too...

    I've heared many reports of white clouds appearing in a tank after using stress zyme. Have you added anything like that to the water?

    HELP my goldfish

    25 C is about 76 F. Do you have a heater or a cooler in the tank? Or is the tank near a direct heat source, like a really sunny window? -- You might want to try moving the tank to a cooler location. Also your tank is probably starting to cycle. Goldfish are HIGHLY pollutant fish, they create...

    50% Water change too much?

    I've had the tank for a month I think.. The fish act fine, except for when I turn on the light in the morning. In that case my rosey kinda acts like it's having seisures and juts around. Maybe he's not a morning person? ^^; j/k The pleco acts like all pleco act. I wouldn't know how to...

    An old dog needs to learn new tricks!!

    Maybe back then the hobby wasn't as globalized, so less hatcheries for a smaller market, less mass breading, and less use of chemicals to quarantine breeding tanks to keep all harmful germs from babies and all that other stuff they use for farm raised fish, resulting in higher immune systems for...

    50% Water change too much?

    Nitrate: 40-60 ppm Nitrite: 10+ ppm (It's a bright fusia pink color. 10ppm on the color indicator is much lighter in tone...) Total Hardness: 200-ish (It's usually between 120-250) Alkalinity: 120-ish pH: 7.4 Ammonia: 0 ppm (YAYS!) So with the Nitrite as it is, 50% daily water change is not too...

    An old dog needs to learn new tricks!!

    My boyfriend said the same thing when I asked him about his old fish tank. He said he just threw the fish into it after setting it up, a bunch of kisser fish. They fed them once a week or so, and once a month they took apart the tank cleaned it top to bottom and put fresh clean water in it...

    50% Water change too much?

    Reacclimate the fish? how so? Yeah..it was on the tail end of cycling and then this happened. but even when I do a 50% water change the nitrite readings don't go down... Like yesterday I took a reading, then changed out about 50% of the water, and the readings only went down a little bit, still...

Didn't put 2 and 2 together. @.@; I guess tetra it is then! ^______^; I should go research a bit before buying them. weeee~ researching fish is a little too addictive. Next thing you know 5 hours has passed and it feels like just a few minutes. @.@;

    Oh don't worry about that, my small tank is just temporary. ^_____^ I'm getting a much larger one soon *nods* Right now I'm really leaning towards the tetras... And I have to return my barb to the store. He's stealing my pleco's food, and NO one messes with my kawaii little pleco. ><; *Worships...

    you think they'd do ok in a 7 gal tank with a tiny tiny baby pleco? Cause other than that, my water requirments seem to meet theirs. o.o I was also looking at the Black Phantom Tetra. I can't figure what'd be best to school in my small tank. @.@;

    50% Water change too much?

    Uhg. X.x; I was afraid someone would say that... But of coarse this being my first tank, it's only a 7gal. Hex starter kit. so I could never have that many fish. T.T; I think I should give up on having any fish larger than 1/2 inch, take everything out... and make my fish a fancy guppy tank...

    50% Water change too much?

    I didn't want to start yet another thread so I'm just changing this one's topic. I'm having a seriously toxic Nitrite spike -- According to tests it's ABOVE 10ppm. I was doing 50% daily water changes to fix it (this is day two), but a friend of mine in the aqua hobby told me that was too much...

    Amonia spike won't go away. T.T

    I change my water out daily (10-20% ish) and I just have ONE fish in my 10 gallon gank. Am I just over feeding him? ^^; and I always have a steady 20ppm Nitrate where as I've never seen Nitrite T.T; But since the nitrate is there I'm guessing my tank is cycled... I mean..how else did it get...
