    I would think it depends on cichlid species leleupi I know will darken where I've heard others colour up more as feel safer over the dark

    I am expecting these rocks to colour in over time , my ocean rock in the past has always never stayed as clean as it is now , am expecting it to take on brown an a little green tans as time goes by , was thinking a few plants next thou with my stock an never having kept planted just artificial...

    Thanks , it's the rock design by juwel came in 600X550 sheets , fairly easy to cut just have a coping saw or hack saw to hand. I wasnt ready or confident enough yet to make an design my own

    Your on cichlid discussions so depending on fish choice some dig an will move vast amounts of gravel , if the rocks are not on bottom of tank this could cause a rock fall , I am in process of removing all my gravel an setting my base rocks on egg crate giving a solid base to build

    Thanks so I should be ok for 24 hours or more , Ian it's a marine silicone an it says 24 hours some things I read have said 24 hours others 48 I will air on the side of caution an leave it as long as poss going by what advice I can piece together it seems longer the better

    Ok I've been brought a 3d background for christmas so need to empty tank an allow silicon to set for 24 hours while empty I will be putting egg crate under the gravel as I now have a lot of rock an want to spread the weight , question will my external filter be ok left not running for that...

    Agreed simply adding more filtration should not cause higher nitrates if old filter still running . How long was old filter standing while change took place ?

    Whenever you add cichlids your going to get some fireworks !!! Imo if they are captive breed an your water isn't so different to what they were in then switching tanks in your house would be ok

    Buying live rock to kill off !!! In the uk we call it ocean rock , as above says state side Texas Holly rock , there are many options but why kill off live rock
