    Fire Eel (Mastacembelus erythrotaenia) Advice?

Hey everyone, Been out of the hobby for a couple years, with college stuff and work. Hoping to splurge a bit of my savings to pick up a 100 gallon fish tank. I've looked at a lot of large fish to put in this size tank (Which is a pretty wide range of fish), but none captured my attention more...

    Diatom Algae?

Get a closer picture, I've dealt with diatoms in the past and could help if I saw it better!

    For Sale: Easy plant package

Whassup AA? I have been hoarding plants for a single tank, and I really need to clear out the ones I don't want. No algae as far as I see, but there may be snails. I have 5 rooted crowns of Dwarf Sag, some leaves are having trouble, but all plants should be fine with a week or two of love. In...

What happened to the chat room?

What happened to the chat room?

C'mon guys, what happened to people chillin' on the chat room while surfing the web? I remember less than a year ago there were Friday nights with 10 or more people chattin' it up, and now I never see more than four. Even to the guys that don't really chat very much, try it out once a week, we...

A phrase that will alter your life -- high school drama

A very strange phrase, isn't it? It's implications, I mean. Of course, the adults and even the seniors criticize it to no end, and yet... there seems to be no escape from it! It's a lot of rubbish when you think about it, really. I went to a band concert tonight, and every conversation between...

    What Fish Should I Get?

I know, just throwing in my opinion. Shrimp come with plenty of cons, and skirting disaster is just not in my book haha. But by all means, get some tetras or something. I might just be overparanoid.

    What Fish Should I Get?

And to that I agree. Otos are good, but neon tetras have mouths made for eating. So yes, it is possible to have a healthy colony coexisting with fish, but why take any risk at all? Shrimp are fantastic in themselves!

    What Fish Should I Get?

IME generally is a strong word. I just personally don't like risk things on account that they are "generally" safe.

    new sand..

Depends on the type of sand and how deep. The deeper it is, the worse the bubbles. Once a month or so just stir up the sand a bit, make sure there is no buildup. Easy peasy.

Stock to help control cherry shrimp pop

Use a local fish friend or LFS to take them for now, but definitely, look into shipping them! There is a lot of demand for shrimp, for pets or feeders. Always another hungry pufferfish ;) .

    Deaths after new additions

Sounds like something from the rummy noses infected the clan. Keep up some smaller water changes, always a great idea. Look for any other symptoms, and let us know so we can help diagnose it!

    What Fish Should I Get?

Um, I had a RCS (Red Cherry Shrimp) colony of about 100+ going at one point, and the only living invert or fish that did t touch them were snails. There are a few peaceful fish out there, but if you really like your RCS, stick with a species-only tank, IMO

    random fish death

LFS only have fish for a week, tops, before someone buys them. The effect that FW has on brackish fish isn't immediately deadly.

    Starting from scratch

Hey everyone! To those who know me, it has been a long time since I've posted. I'm back to get some help starting a saltwater aquarium! Firstly, I've been thinking about starting with a 50-55 gallon long tank (Based on the fact that there is more room for error and more fish choices). Is this...

Tankmates for the Yellow Lab cichlid?

I'll make sure to check the water hardness. So, peacocks? Is that what they're called? Or is there a bunch of them called Peacocks? What's the full name for the Vic cichlid?

Tankmates for the Yellow Lab cichlid?

Tankmates for the Yellow Lab cichlid?

Hey guys! Got another cichlid question for ya. So, I really, really want some yellow labs in my tank, so I would like that to be the base for the tank inhabitants, what other cichlids could I have? This is a standard 55 gallon aquarium with a large canister filter, 200w heater, a TON of white...

55 gallon tank for cichlids - can you help me get started?

Hey guys! Some of you might know that I have a 55 gallon tank that I don't really have any ideas for, until my dad reminded me of cichlids (As he does constantly [He LOVES cichlids]) as a possibility. I truthfully know very little about cichlids, but when I was first setting up this tank nearly...
