    First Try:37 gallon

Added some more live rock, had a few hitchhikers including a pretty nice zoa, and the 4 stripe damsel my cousin had. Some pics!

    First Try:37 gallon

Added some salt cuz the sg was a bit low at 1.021 so that's why it's cloudy but I got bored of the empty tank and put some rock my cousin gave me in there. Not sure how much will stay and if any of it does it'll prolly be in a different spot but here's the first pic of the tank. :)

Can i keep an ob peacock with mbuna?

Introduce the obs first and you should be fine. I have 3 obs in with lots of other cichlids including yellow labs, acei, kennyii, auratus, and other peacocks.

    Tankmate ?

    How big is the tank?

Can i keep an ob peacock with mbuna?

I have obs in with my mbuna and everyone gets along fine. It's gonna depend on tank size and your rock work too tho. As well as the size of your mbunas and the obs you're wanting to add.

fish in a 75 gal freshwater community tank

I am one of those "chain store employees" and I really disagree with your comment above. Yes many i,f not most, chain store employees are out for sale but there are also those of us who truly want what's best for the fish and the fish keepers. I always try to help people stock properly and...

Weekend purchases etc, what did you do?

Got 45 pounds of sand, salt mix, hydrometer, and an aqueon 500 circulation pump for the 37 gal I'm doing.

    First Try:37 gallon

Ok. Water cleared up a pretty good after 4 water changes and I added salt. Probably jumped the gun on that one since I'm gonna have to take water out to make room for the rock next week but at least I under dosed the salt so it's not too bad. Hopefully gonna get rock and probably another...

    First Try:37 gallon

Thanks. This is my first saltwater tank myself so im being as diligent as I can with reading up on things and asking advice from this site, my lfs and my cousin who has had several. Water change today after work will hopefully clear it up enough for a decent pic and I'll post if I get one. Just...

    First Try:37 gallon

Got sand, salt mix, a hydrometer and an aqueon 500 circulation pump this yesterday. Rinsed the sand all day and got it in the tank. Still clouded pretty good so it's water changes and waiting for now. :/

Need help updating my profile... I am such a nube...

I don't think you can edit your profile from the app. Only on the full site. And I believe you need a certain number of posts before you can post on the classified section.

    Outdoor turtle fencing.

No problem. Just make sure whatever you use to line it can stand up to the turtles claws. The first liner I used was too thin of a material and my sliders poked holes in it so I had to reline it.

Start of my first saltwater tank

    Looks really nice.

    Outdoor turtle fencing.

Yeah a pond liner or even just a waterproof tarp if you can find one that fits.

    Need help with cycling ASAP!

You can vacuum any left over stuff in the tank to clean it up a bit. It won't hurt. Give the tank a day to settle and then recheck the levels.

    Need help with cycling ASAP!

Big water change to drop the ammonia level.

    Outdoor turtle fencing.

Chicken wire from Home Depot. I used it in a little above ground turtle pond I built a few years ago.

    Fluval edge lighting

    No problem. :)

    Fluval edge lighting

Never had a salt tank but am in the process of setting one up and all my lfs employees and friends and relatives with salt tanks tell me that with fish only lighting doesn't really matter. It's only if you want to go reef that lighting becomes a huge issue.

    Sand or gravel?

Depends on how deep of a sand bed you want and the actual footprint of the tank, not just the volume of water it can hold. But for a 1-2 inch layer of sand your probably looking at 1 lb of sand per gallon in most standard sized tanks.

    Sand or gravel?

I've had an aquarium of some sort or size for around 10 years and up until a year ago I always had gravel( just never wanted to invest in the actual "aquarium" sand and didn't think about the alternatives). Well I decided to get a nice big 75 gallon african cichlid tank last year and they like...

    First Try:37 gallon

Still several weeks away from having this tank up and running but when I get it together my cousin is giving me a 4 stripe damsel to cycle with. It's the same one he used to cycle one of his tanks several months ago. He told me to wait til the diotomes start to build up then add 3 or 4 nassarius...

Can i put a filter on the side of my tank?

I've gotten all my cichlids either from the PETsMART closest to me(about 10 minutes away) or the one I work at(about 30 minutes away). All were healthy and are happy, growing and doing great in my tank. Definitely make sure that the tanks look clean and fish look healthy because unfortunately...

Weekend purchases etc, what did you do?

Got 4 ottos for my 26 gal livebearer tank, feeders for my Oscar, and paint for the back of the 37 gal sw I'm setting up. Also did my weekly water changes, moved the 26 to make room for the 37 and painted the 37 but those aren't purchases. :P
