    Pulsing Xenia

Why are my xenias doing poorly ? For the first 3 weeks they were great it seemed, now they are fully constricted and look pitiful. I moved them towards light source as a last act of a desperate man, which also has good water flow. The water temp is at 78.5, is that too high ?

Ever now and then I see a long purple leg with an orange tip stick out from my live rock then it goes back in. Just curious as to what it belongs to. Is it a worm ? A starfish ? Who knows, not me. I never bought either of those things.

    Marine insect ?

I just spotted multiple tiny, insect like creatures in my tank. They are approx. 1 to 2 cm long, transparent, multiple legs and 2 antennae. They crawl on my live rock and I'm curious as to what they are and if they are harmful. If so how do I get rid of them and keep they away. Thanks.

    Pulsing xenia

My Xenia's are struggling and this discourages me because they are suppose to be the easiest coral to maintain. I don't have extra cash to buy better lighting right now, which I think would help. I built a shelf to increase lighting distance, any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks Bobby

    Par 30 bulbs

What's the life expectancy on a par 30 bulb, considering it runs approximately 12hrs a day? I saw online 50,000hrs is that correct? If so that's amazing. That's 50,000 divided by 12 is 4000 days divided by 365 is 11 years !!!!! I'm terrible at math, someone tell me if this is correct or if I've...

    Mocha clown

I left the top off of my tank the other night after cleaning it, and the next morning found one of my mocha clowns dead outside of the tank. Not sure what caused the fish to jump out, I've learned my lesson on keeping the top on my tank. My question is, will introducing another mocha clown to...

    Additional lighting

Is it ok to place this office lamp over tank to add a little extra light? I know my light that came with tank is led, but I thought additional light during normal daytime hours might result in more/faster growth of coral in tank. Let me know what you think. Thanks

    Candy Cane Neon

I watched my Candy Cane Neon coral release some brown contents today. I suppose it was just waste material. Am I correct? I've never had coral before so forgive me if this is a stupid question, obvious occurrences pertaining to coral elude me. Here's a link to video Check out this video on...

    Mocha clown behavior

I'm new to salt water tanks, with that being said my 10 gal tank has been up for a little over a month. I added 2 mocha clowns about 3 weeks ago. One is a little larger than the other, which I assume is the female or will become the female shortly based on my Internet fish knowledge. Long...

    Striped star

When I introduced my new GSP frag the other day I saw small striped arms poking out from underneath the frag. It appears to be a small striped starfish. Does anybody know what kind? Or if it will ever emerge from frag? Does it get any larger? I know this is probably hard to say without a...

Xenia, GSP, and candy cane neon

Just curious how long it takes for these corals to start showing growth and moving from frag onto my live rock. What are optimal foods? Also wondering if my GSP has too much water flow, check out this pic. Current seems to be pulling it off of frag holder. Didn't know if this was an issue...

    Gobies and shrimp

I'm looking for a gobie that will sift the sand in my tank, but I also like the symbiotic relationship that the pistol shrimp and certain gobies have. Any suggestions to what gobie/ shrimp selection I should make? I have a ten gallon tank, with a GSP, Xenia , and candy cane neon frag. Two...

    New Soft Coral Additions

Just added; striped Xenia , candy cane neon, and green star polyp. Any tips on these corals would be appreciated since I'm new to the whole thing. Also I found a striped starfish clinging to the coral, and a small crab. I guess these won't be an issue for my corals.
