    Murderer!!!!

Damsels sometimes are aggressive to other tankmates. The most docile damsel I have had is the green reef chromis. All other Damsels I have had are meaner than what I was told at the LFS.

    Firefish Experience

I loved my firefish. Great addition to the tank. The bristleworms that were hiding in my live rock mad a mess of him about two months later. I will never forgive those bastards for what they did!

Whats the best way to put a fish down?

I have killed many things in my life. Mostly for food, others because it had to be done to reduce suffering or self protection. There are only two ways to do it quickly. Inject something that will stop the central nervous system or crush the brain housing area. This is the only way I have...

    HELP!!! Aptasia Problem

Consider me sick, but... I put my aip killing as a monthly control measure. Let'em grow a little and then seek and destroy. I feel the little nuisance serves some sort purpose in my aquarium, if not to grab some left over floating food.

    Swimming Mushrooms???

The first sign of having a superb tank is mushrooms multiplying and floating all over the place. Also polyps spreading like a fungus. I would try to sell them back to a LFS if they are doing that well.

    I have a dream

I dream that in 8 year from now I will be retiring and I want to open my own fish store(military retirement so not much money). I have had a fish tank of some sorts (saltwater/freshwater) for 17 years now. I have done everything there is to do in freshwater and I am 2 years into the saltwater...

    Murderer!!!!

From my experience I would not say it was a bristle worm. I have about 8 of those ugly things in my tank and they act like a cleaner crew the same as my crabs. I have had no experience with pepermint shrimp. Here is what I think. 1) The peppermint shrimp killed it. (not likely, but who...

The War and the help of my aqaurium

Ladies and Gents, I have served my country for about 12 years now and I would just like to pass on how my hobby of sustaining a reef aquarium has helped me through the process of re-adapting to normal society. Recently I have returned from my second tour in the Middle East. Mostly Iraq. When...

Help before I give Up....Hair Algea BAD

The only time I have ever had problems with hair algea is when I use tap water. Luckily about 4 months ago I found a local water supply store about 5 miles away that has a huge RO/DI unit. About a month after switching to RO/DI and doing several water changes I haven't even seen a trace of...

Adding additional Live Rock to a cycled tank?

I did the same thing in my fifty five tank. Originally I had about 25lbs of LR and I bought an additional 30lbs of live rock for my tank from the LFS after it had already been established for a year. I saw a small spike in my ammonia levels so I did 10% water change every week for four weeks...

Is this okay to put on my tank.....

I have a coralife setup but not with the metal halide lighting. I was able to connect the 10000k, blue actinic, and moon-glow on seperate timers so my lighting is all automatic. I ended up measuring my space inside the hood so I was sure it fit. With just those two types of bulbs it still...

Interesting things I have seen in my tank (Pics!)

On your first picture I see little bugs that look like rolly pollies. I have these in my tank also and I believe they are munching on my blue zooanthids. I see them at night picking at the top of the zoos. Have you seen anything similar?

    RO/DI and sick fish

Thanks for the advice. I know the tang had a bacteria infection and one damsel showed some signs that he might also have it. The surviving damsel minds his own business, but he is the most energetic fish in the tank. This guy may have to go, since he could be causing trouble when I am not...

    RO/DI and sick fish

This is my first post on this website and I am stuck on a subject I have not been able to find any answers on. I have had my 55 gallon fish/reef aquarium going for about 18 months now. I have currently living is one clown(resides in a bubble tip anemone) and one green damsel. The fish that...
