The tank has beed setup for around 5 months. I have a royal pleco in the tank, and he does eat some of the algae, but what else can i...

    Dinosaur Eel

The yellow eel is also a senegal, it is just a slightly different shade, or at least that is how it is at all the pet stores around here. I would add to what was but, but between toirtis, anne, and joe you are in very good standings. good luck with the bichirs, they are interesting fish! ~Corey

    Sand Bottom's

I have sand in all my tanks, and I love it, the only downfall I can think of would be that the solid waste stays at the top of the sand. this makes cleaning the tank a more frequent chore, but it is alot easer to perform because of the same trait. so I guess that it all works out for the best.

Tankmates for a 55 with a Senegal Birchir

Is aquarium salt nessisary to treat ich with heat treatment?

salt is often used to ease the stress on the fish. raising the temp will no doubt stress the fish. I don't think it is necessary, but I always have. hth ~corey

    Senegal Bichir

Rxblade123, bichir is pronounced the same as biker. at 4 in the bichir should start to eat your guppies. if you are worried about you bichir getting food, then I would give him some bottom feeder pellets, or a shrimp pellet. my senegal will eat them from my hand. but he seems to like...

    guppy colours

boy, i guess it would depend on their family tree. most guppies are not pure bred, they are a mutt so to say, so the colors of their offspring will be impossible to tell. some should turn out as the parents, but there is no guarantee. hth ~corey

I had a similar problem, and mine turned out to be a partially clogged air stone. the two motors were hitting each other due to the stress put on them. I got a new stone, and the problem stoped.

    Identification Please (Bichir variety)

I know it was addressed to fruitbat, but I can answer some of the questions. I would get a glass of water from the tank, and put the cubes of food in there to thaw out, it only takes about 2 min. I feed my senegal once a day, and he is growing like a weed. I would say you could put a few...

    Identification Please (Bichir variety)

from NC, the fish you are referring to is a senegal bichir. or polypterus senegalus. it will get about 12 in long, and needs to get a variety of food. small bichirs love bloodworms, and plankton. as the fish gets bigger, he will eat small fish if given the chance. speaking that you bought...
