    My beautiful jungle val

I'm going to assume the roots are healthy as they were very thick when planted. Obviously I don't want to disturb them. As far as lighting, I thought that was more than enough for Vals

    My beautiful jungle val

The fixture is raised about 3 inches. They're all melting

    My beautiful jungle val

Is in the process of completely melting from transplant shock. There's still what looks like a lot in there since I had so many but the leaves are bad of what's left. Should I just cut all of them to its bare root? Would that speed the process up as far as getting the plant going to send...

    Jungle Val question

I'm running 2 aquaclear 70's on slowest flow. It's still melting back bad. I mean I kinda expected it so that's why I got so many so the tank can still look full even with the melting

    Jungle Val question

Thanks. I feel like this is probably the best answer and makes the most sense. I guess every tank is different. In your estimation how long does it generally take for Vals to root? Mine have been in about 5-6 weeks.

    Jungle Val question

I have about 12-15 seachem root tabs in there. I wonder if it's not enough because of the sheer volume of jungle val that I have in there

    Jungle Val question

I have a 55 gallon that's been established for 6 years. I've had horrible luck with plants. Probably being too impatient at times and my patience is testing me again. I just overhauled the tank with probably 130 stems of super long and healthy vals. Now I know they go through transplant shock...

    Aquarium substrate questions

You can buy some 3 dollar play sand or if you don't like that you could go with a 10 dollar bag of pool filter sand. No need to break the bank for substrate. Plants will grow in anything as long as you feed the substrate. I wasted a lot of money on eco complete. Doesn't help with plants...

    Lighting question

Is anyone familiar with the finnex stingray? If so, how would that compare to a single T5 HO over a 55 gallon? Which one puts out stronger light?

Light for 40G Breeder planted tank

I'd go with a finnex stingray

Light suggestions for a low-tech planted 55 gallon?

    Rubber lip pleco attack?

I've had issues with my bristlenose plecos. They are peaceful but at the same time food aggressive. If you drop 1 piece of food in the tank they think it's for them and them only. They will flop and throw their bodies around. They were injuring my cories too although none were killed. I...

Rubber lip pleco tank size requirements?

Wanting to get one of these guys and the research I'm finding is all over the place with tank size. I've seen 15 all the way to 55 which is obviously a big difference. I have a 33 long which he would be going in. Would that be ok for him? Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

Angels paired off but I have no plans on moving them

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll just keep doing what I'm doing for now. I have some cories a bristlenose pleco and a Bolivian ram in the tank with the Angels. The cories and Bolivian pretty much stay near the bottom at all times so the pleco would be the one that could get near the eggs and...

Angels paired off but I have no plans on moving them

I have 4 angels in a 55 and after having them a year they've paired off. I've seen eggs on 3 different occasions on leafs. I observed how the pair would guard the eggs and wouldn't let anyone near. So what I did was knock the eggs off the leaf, then everyone goes back to acting normal. I've done...

    Who is the corydoras killer?

Maybe disease but bristlenose plecos can be nasty at feeding time. My peppered corys are constantly having specs of blood on their bodies from the plecos throwing their bodies around. Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    BN Pleco diet

Are they young plecos? If so they are probably preferring to eat the algae that is in the tank. You said they were growing so they're eating something. I wouldn't worry. Keep trying the wafers and other veggies. I'm sure they'll find something they prefer. My bristlenose loves cucumbers Sent...

Try crushing up the food and spreading it out through the tank. It won't matter to the fish.

You know their are ways to combat that issue right? I have a 33 gallon long that houses a blue gourami, 13 bronze corys and 6 upside down catfish. I mix all my foods in a coffee grinder, put some food in a small cup with tank water and spread it all throughout the tank. Everyone is happy with...

Lighting over a 33 gallon long.

Forgot, I do have a hydor Koralia in there. I have 4 other tanks that's doing fine without carbon , so I know that's not the problem. I have a stingray over a 20 gallon long also. No algae in that one.

Lighting over a 33 gallon long.

No carbon source, fluval c4 filter. Yes flourish comp. Plenty of root tabs in the substate which is playsand.... I will not use flourish excel just for heads up. Every time I've used it , it has led to deaths of my cory cats. They don't deal with excel well... At least not for me
