I have seven dwarf neon rainbows. I originally had them in a 30G tall which is 24 x 24. They seemed to just sit in the same place without moving much. When my 75 G was cycled, I moved them and they are much happier. The tank is twice as long and they now enjoy swimming from one end to the...

My canister is hooked up to the same plug thing that my thermometer and lights are hooked up to. Everything goes off when I do maintenance. I'm not taking any chances.

I had black skirt tetras and green tiger barbs in with mine in a 30 gallon tank until my 75 G was cycled, and they got along fine. I also had a rainbow shark in there. I did move the seven dwarf neon rainbows to the 75 G when it cycled and they do seem livelier, as the tank is twice as long...

I use backgrounds on all my aquariums. On the 75 G I have a mat black with very pretty muted fern-like background that I got at Petsmart. It really enhances the rainbow fish and hides the cords. I just tape it on, easy to remove if I want.

Sorry about the bad luck you have had with your filter. I have an Eheim 2028 Pro on my 75 gallon. The tank is on a wrought iron stand and I have the filter in a big terra cotta pot. It is SILENT. Not even a teenie echo from inside the pot. You get what you pay for.

I got a 75 gallon last month, it is still in a fishless cycle and now I wish I had gotten a bigger one. :D

I wish I could have someone's 10 gallon for a qt.

If you're in the South, Publix also has their own brand of plain amonia. I am also in the process of cycling a 75 gallon lightly planted aquarium and had to use 10 drops per 10 gallons to get to 5ppm. :D
