Water conditioners/dechlorniators can also create mass bubbles. I would use something that won't affect the skimmer such as 'Prime'. It took about two weeks for my skimmer to "break in" and stop producing microbubbles.

Hi, I would agree with what everyone else has said here. The Powder Brown Tang is very territorial and is generally recommended to be added to the tank last. I think you'll be pushing your luck adding two or more tangs.

How would you force the water to evaporate quickly? My guess is the water would would stagnant weeks or months before it finally evaporated.

I don't think it really matters, does it? The output would still be the same it's just a different design mechanism.

Is it possible it was some external source of contamination? Did you spray any chemicals, do any painting, etc? Did you have your hands in the tank that day?

SirLight1337, I personally go for the hypo treatment. I had steve-s and quarryshark helping me along this route and it worked like a champ. Just make sure you use a refractometer. My swing arm was way too unreliable. Just my .02 :) (edited for name correction of quarryshark)
