Light bulbs are regular fluorescent bulbs. The ones the tank came with. And I change water once a week, sometimes cleaning the gravel when I do. They are usually 30-50% changes. Sent from my HTCONE using Aquarium Advice mobile app

yup! I have 6 harly's in a 15 gal and they LOVE swimming back and forth through the filter waterfall. I figure it gives em something to do. Equivalent to a hamster wheel. Got a question for ya though... Do your harly's ever bull rush one another. Rarely, one of my harly's will swim away from...

4-6 weeks?! Nah. Go out and get either a bottle of tetra safestart or api quickstart. Both contain the live bacteria you need. Then throw a little of the that non-cleaning kind of ammonia in their for them to feed on. You'll have a bio filter in a week tops. Cheers :)

A cichlid tank would be awesome! You could put lots of different colors and varieties. Make sure if you do a cichlid tank to add lots of rock structures. You can read this article on hardscaping. It's lengthy but rather interesting if you really are thinking cichlid...

Well after testing today I am surprised to see ammonia is almost gone! But look at my nitrates =O. I could tell the fish were pretty stressed lately. So is this a cycled tank or am I still waiting?

Well I did end up giving the barbs back to the fish store, and now I have 6 harlequin rasboras. They do just fine, but I do wish I could cycle my tank and make life easier for EVERYONE lol

Lol did you see them and watch it happen? How many did you get?

Can you visually see the eggs? If they laid yesterday, that means that should hatch today!

Here is what I think is them breeding. Can I remove the plant to a smaller tank? I read fry hatch in 24 hours.
