I just started my fishless cycle today.
Tank characteristics....
Yes I have kids - both little girls. My youngest loves Spider-Man and Captain America while the other is a total 'princess'. They also love Little Nemo so we have an honorary Mount WannaHogALoogie.

Thanks! Still working on the plan for fish. I figure I have 4-6 weeks of the fishless cycling ahead of me

I never waited that long i waited a week and a half but go buy a api master test kit and test water every other day until levels go up then back down to 0

Looks good!

My kids both wanted those exact same decorations. I'm so mean though because I wouldn't do it. Told my boy if he still cares by his birthday we will set up a small tank just for him and he can have the stupid Captain America/Spider-man figurine (how random is that anyway?? why is Spider-man with Captain America??)

apparently Spiderman was offered up membership in the the Avengers several times but never made it. Only recently (in 2000s) was be formally added to the Avenger roster....

I was equally shocked and had to google/Wikipedia this information ;-)

Interesting. Still one would think that they would have paired a more "standard" avenger...

4-6 weeks?! Nah. Go out and get either a bottle of tetra safestart or api quickstart. Both contain the live bacteria you need. Then throw a little of the that non-cleaning kind of ammonia in their for them to feed on. You'll have a bio filter in a week tops. Cheers :)

Thanks Herky231.
I ended up getting a big donation of bacteria ridden filter material from a local goldfish breeder.
My cycle completed this week and I am planning the fish to add. Maybe as soon as this weekend, we'll see.

Just wanted to say thanks to those that have been helping me. I am very excited to share that my first group of fish should arrive today (from thatfishplace.com). I purchased the 5 Boesemani Raindows and the 6 Panda Corys.

Pictures, or it didn't happen! ;)

Can that lucky bamboo be submerged? I always wanted to put some in my tank but I read that it would die :(
