if u clean your tank regularly an undergravel filter could do the job. since betta = not too much waste, UGF = no strong current and your tank looks like pretty small too, which means easy to clean just unplug and vacuum

in their natural environment betta have nearly endless surrounding. so i dont think too much space is a problem. if u have a large tank with bettas only i guess putting in lots of long plants will make them feel at home.

a small goldfish but it will kind of hate u for the rest if its looping 3 seconds memory life.
