Is it true that in a successful planted aquarium, you do not need a air pump? Is that correct?

Can I add sand to an established aquarium? The tank is bare right now and has some caves. There are some fish in the tank as well.

Thanks for replies. To answer the the 2 questions: A. I looked at the bulb that is in the 4 ft fixture and all it says is all aquarium. So it will prolly need replacing for sure B. right now there are 5 large angelfish and 2 bristlenose pleco and 1 cory cat.

I would like to convert a gravel bottom 55 to a planted tank. Is this possible with just the gravel I have in the tank? I really don't want to get into co2. Any advice would be helpful.

Hi. I recently bought a used eheim professional 2 canister filter and it began leaking. I bought a replacement part and fixed that but it still leaking. There is water in the cavities where u can stick fingers in and lift filter. Has this happened to anyone before?
