Why do we measure still by WPG?

I totally agree, but i think its easier for the newbie to understand WPG versus Lumens, And with NO the WPG rule works well and most newbs only have NO. Plus its also easier to explain WPG to a new aquarist. Its kinda like the 'Inch of Fish per Gal' rule, its not a set in stone rule but...

Why do we measure still by WPG?

I think it is because all bulbs display Watts while it can be difficult to find the lumen output of a specific bulb.

    Plant suggestions for 2 wpg

This is a great site for finding info about plants. You can choose what type you are looking for and browse the plants that meet that criteria. Good stuff. http://www.plantgeek.net/plantguide.php

Getting new filter, xp3, will it clear driftwood tanin?

I belive the XP3 comes with a jet type output and a spray bar. The spray bar will help dissipate the force of the water across a wider area. TG - how many times can you/do you renew/reuse it?

    Value of Fish

He said he was on a trip and mutiple containers were dumped in. If a huge amount was in the tank and left even just for 2 days I would wager there was a huge ammonia spike . Im not sure about you walmart but many large fish stores use one big water system for all freshwater tanks so their...

    Value of Fish

Does the judge consider the effectiveness of a 'rehab' facility, whether it be a prison or a more interactive juvenile rehab facility? Also what specifically do you mean by 'outdoor rehabilitation facility combining several both punitive and rehabilitative techniques' and how would it differ...

    Value of Fish

I think you should take your 'severe offense' and put it in your pocket for when your house gets broken into by a 13 and 14 yr old and your fish killed. I'm just thinking you see a lot more of this from the other side, the trouble youth needing guidance kind of thing but the victims are the...

For those of you with snails

Loaches and puffers eat snails differently. Puffers break the shell while loaches pull them from the shell.

    Aggressive Dwarf Gourami

If it can breath it might pull through, you have to verbally cheer for it to survive when you pass the tank. Like they say in poker all you need is a chip and a chair. It's breathing, the chip and if it in the tank it got a chair. Just let the guy play cards!

Once again the generosity of Travis Simonson is oozing out of this forum like liqueur from a bottle. Its sweet and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Travis sent me a group of MTS and three great plants, what a guy! I wasn't able to get any pics of the mts as my photo skills are...

    29gal Centerpiece Fish?

That's also what I have read Rich. They haven't bothered the Corys to date and only really nip each other during feeding which I read is normal as they have a pecking order.

    29gal Centerpiece Fish?

Could you suggest something else Michael_R? Rams could work but I haven't seen them around FF. Any other opinions on the Serpaes? Maybe switch them out for some other tetra? I like the bright color of the Serpaes.

    29gal Centerpiece Fish?

I have a South American planted 29gal aquarium currently stocked with 10 serpaes, 5 julii corys and a king tiger pleco. I was previously thinking Angelfish for the Centerpiece but would those get too big for a 29? I would start with quarter dollars sized ones. I would like to keep it...

    Stocking for 20g and 29g

Ill check out the Hachet fish FF, something in the upper part of the tank would be nice since it is pretty tall. Hopefully I can manage algea in the 20g with Co2 and water changes to keep the nitrates down. It is only 2wpg so it shouldnt be too difficult..(famous last words right?)
