Well, i finally figured out how to get my heater working and i have it set to around 80-82 degress. my tank has 1 blue gourami, 3 tiger barbs, 2 serpae tetras, and 2 red phantom tetras. do you think this is the correct temperature or is this a little high?
Yea, i never buy from the large chain stores anymore since most of the fish will die on you. i walked into my local petsmart one day and they were taking out dead fish from tanks like it was the end of WW2. most died and people were still buying fish....
I have always used the spring water for my emergency water changes and such. My fish have been doing great with it too. I just noticed it this morning when i was about to leave for school. My tap water is crap and is really bad for my fish. He's in one of those bettaHex things. Sorry bout the CAPS
It's common for Tetra's to do this. Mine do it all the time. Especially my Serpae's. They're obsessed with chasing. (Maybe it keeps them fit, who knows lol)
Also, if the water goes too low, the heater may start overheating and once you fill it up to the trim again, it may crack. Try to just add a bit every 2 days or so just to keep it consistent, it puts less stress on the heater.
nice tank, Needs a few more things inside but that will come with time. I still find myself adding and changing the "look" of my tank. That's the best part. I think my fish like it better too so they don't stare at the same thing all the time.
actually, if they are hardy fish, they can survive in the worst conditions. During the hurricane my power was out and nothing was running (didnt have a backup air pump). Well guess what? Every one of my fish survived the week and a half without power. the ammonia was building up but they...
Currently I am using a Primo 1000 (Millennium 1000) power filter which has no top to the part where the water is. What is happening is the water is getting into the paint on my wall and it is peeling. To try and prevent the evaporation from the filter, I bought a Whisper Power Filter. It is not...
i dont know of any sites, but the big al's usa store (only one in the usa right now) is 10 mins from my house. Woo! and it has GREAT PRICES! Also, IT'S HUGE!!!!!!!!!
betta still isnt eating. he's now laying on a 45 or so-ish degree angle on the bottom and only swims around once in a while to get air. he seemed better yesterday. he's in one of those bowfront things like this: http://www.petcarerx.com/common/Prodimg/11944L.jpg
My betta seems sluggish. I just got him yesterday and he isn't moving very much. Sometimes he goes for air or swims a bit but then he's just resting on the bottom. Also, i cant seem to get him to eat the freeze dried bloodworms. No visible signs of illness except lack of movement.
