Thank you everyone for the advice, I forgot to mention I also use Nutrafin Plant Gro everytime I do a water change.
So I will trim off the old leaves and reduce the amount of time I have my lights on.
I have Amazon swords and one other type of plant, but I don't remember what it's called. These are my first plants too, so I'm learning a lot of this for the first time
They're brown and yellow around the edges, and it just looks like they dying. Very unhealthy looking, what could be causing this?
55gallon with 2 6700k bulbs, Flourish root tabs, and I add 6ml of API CO2 booster everyday
I have 2 grreat choice internal filters and I can see that the water is just passing over the filter even though I cleaned my tank today and cleaned the filter medium
Is this just a crappy filter or do I need to change the filter medium?

Really? I've had them for about a year now in my 60 gallon with the parrots and I've never had a problem. They haven't really gotten any bigger than when I first bought them. The Parrots have gotten significantly bigger, but the convicts have stayed roughly the same size.
On top of that...

Every time I see pictures of them online they're actually blue, but the ones that were at my LFS were white with a red and yellow face. Are they usually white when they're juvenile?
I wanted to buy a few but for $25 each I wanna make sure they're not BS first
Edit: also, would Rams and Oscars...
