I finally got a decent photo of my planted discus tank. I have co2 and two finnex LEDs and a custom built 60" led light from buildmyled.com my plants are pumping out oxygen, my Christmas tree moss is going crazy and all the fish are happy. You can't really see any discus in the tank pic

Thanks :) Yes they are farlowella, a male and a female. I got them to spawn in this tank. They are crucial to keeping my algae down. I took them out for a couple of months and it exploded. They just got it back to clean.

Hey how did you get the moss on your bogwood how long did it take to attach ? It looks cool i want it :)

Hi moggy, you need a co2 system, liquid fertilizer and good lighting to get plants to grow. Moss is a weird thing and is hard to get established sometimes. I had bought java moss and a little Christmas tree moss. I hate java moss because it doesn't really have a nice shape to it in my opinion and grows unruly. This Christmas tree moss all died where I attached it bar one thread that detached and found its own place up near the lights back when my lighting wasn't bright enough for it to grow. It has since spread and taken over and I trim it and redistribute it around my tank. Use cotton thread to attach moss to the wood an it will just grow through it in time but you need what I told you. $$ and effort.

Here is an update on my planted discus tank. I added some more fish including 4 wild caught discus. One of which spawned with my big blue diamond. I just gardened in the tank and it still looks like a jungle. Here are some pics.

The tank looks absolutely AMAZING!!! Love how it looks like a jungle and all natural!! :) GREAT STUFF!!! :)

Is it hard to clean your gravel ? I guess a siphon would tangle and suck moss up

Umm i found that siphoning is ok. The rocks should be heavy enough to stay, it will only suck up the dirty stuff on the floor. Dont suck near the rock just use ur hand to wave the dirty stuff off. The filter pick up the rest.

Does anybody here overfilter ? I just ordered an external filter with a built in uv light for a 400ltr tank (my tank is 125ltr)
