I got a tank from a friend and it was a little beat up.

I wet sanded it down with 600 - 1200.

Then a little buff. And it almost looks like new!!

My only question. There are some scratches inside. Now I did buff it out but will they be hidden once water goes in?

I re-did the support system for my 55gfresh to make room on the bottom for the 135g salt reef. Here are some pics of before and after.

This is the rgb homemade LEDs that I made for my 55gfresh. I used an old t fixture.

Here is another shot of where the new tank will be going. I am going to stagger 2x4s right next to the braces and run a 2x4 across because the ones going down are going to be where the tank will be.

I am fitting the tank now. I have to make 1 more brace then I can do the plumbing. You can see the sump in the background. I have to cut these out of the existing wall. But before I do I need to reinforce them. Slowly getting there.

Just a few updated photos of the build. It's been a long time coming. Should be putting water in next week.

Lights should be here Monday. They are Cree LEDs 120w full spectrum dimmable. I just have to figure out this reed keeper elite. I have the net up and running. I hooked it up to my pc but I have to use a longer USB core so it can stay plugged in. I want to be able to name all the functions because it is way easier on the pc. And I have to hook up my ato. The only scary thing about doing a sump is the chance of it overflowing. I put in loc line and anti siphon in line with the loc line. I have a 2 float switches for my ato.

Just started to put sand in. I still have another 3 bags to go. I was thinking a 3 or so inch sand bed. I don't want to get a build up of gasses. Here is a pic with only a bag and a half.

Here is a pic of my current fresh that is above the new salt tank in the wall.

I found a guy parting out his tank. He wants $2.50 a pound. He has like 300 pounds. Sound like a good deal? Here is a pic of his tank.

Everything is looking awesome . I bought my rock off of Craigslist the guy had a 180g he was tearing down and sold me about 250lb for 100 bucks I only needed about 100lb so I traded rock for fish at my lfs. Anyways keep up the good work and keep us posted

Here is a link to a video that I did on the lights I just got. There really really bright.

What was funny at the lfs I was talking to the guy about LEDs and I asked him if he had dimmable and he said why would you want dimmable I was like so I can acclimate my corals and turn down the light. He was like. You can just move the coral up or down to acclimate it. Old school , he didn't sell those kind of LEDs either.

I have started the flow from the tank to the sump. Now my question is how much flow should be coming out of my loc line returns. Here is a video. The return is 3/4 flex hose. Runs about 5' and goes up around 18".

How much flow should be coming out of the return loc line? I just added salt today and I feel like I am able to open the return a little more. Prob because the water is heavier.

(((Has anybody ever felt like this.))) I can leave the return pump wide open. I can also leave the drains wide open. I have a pump shut off if my water level goes too low. And if I have a power outage my water will not overflow the sump. I'm just way too nervous to leave everything up and running right now. It's a scary feeling lol. Maybe this weekend I'll leave it running because I'll be home. Since I just set it up I don't feel safe leaving it up and running while I'm out of work for 10 hours.
