One of my shrimp molted already.
I was read somwwhere that you are supposed to leave the molt in the tank because they will eat it.
Is this correct?

Heres a couple pics. I threw in a tiny algae wafer.
Im feeding about every 3 to 4 days does that sound alright?
The microsword and crypts are filling in nicely.
The crypt in the back right was just trimmed, and its growing like a weed.

For shrimp I use the Fluval shrimp granules for food but I doubt they're very picky. I tend to try to feed them a little bit each day or two. I figure that it maintains the bacteria in the filter more consistently. I don't feed enough for every shrimp to eat each time. I'm sure what you're doing is fine. I'm not the best at feeding light. -_- lol

Thanks for the info coraline

Im feeding hikari mini bottom feedet algae pellets
They like them so far.
Im happy with everything so far.
my gma loves the 10g tank
The plants are filling in, and shea already talking about getting some more fish.
Shes learning alot, and she does her wc's,and is feeding the right amount.
Pretty soon she will prob want to upgrade to a latger tank. Haha

Wow! A shrimp jumping overboard is really rare. I doubt that would happen to often. That screen may cut your light down a bit to much. I think you can order glass lids from Amazon. I saw them a while back when I ordered one for my 5.5 gallon tank. If the light isn't an issue then the screen top will be fine. Great handiwork by the way!

I dont think it makes much of a difference as far as light goes.
Some people use them om their reef tanks, and they said it didnt hurt anything.
I plan on paintig it black too.

That's good to hear (about the screen). I painted both of my tanks black also and it really makes a big difference. It's very satisfying to fine-tune a tank until it's working just the way you want it. Nice work!

Thanks

I think one of my rcs may be berried.
I saw some yellowish colored dots on her saddle( i believe its called).
She was moving them around with her legs.
I may be wrong, but they were hard to see.

Heres a pic of the one that i think is berried. Her saddle( i think its called) looks full of eggs.

Nice pic. Are the bubbles off on the sponge filter? Man, that tanks is gonna be filled with shrimp in no time!

Window screen does reduce PAR values by about 40%. You might see troubles with your plants as you technically just cut you light intensity in half. You might think about scratching this idea, or increase the light... :/ it really is rare for RCS to jump...

Right. Reef tanks use a special screen that you can order from BRS. It's a non light blocking screen. They aren't all equal.

I didnt realize it cut par that much.

Theres still alot of plant growth, so i
May just see how it worked out.
Thanks for the info.
I may just buy a glass top, or go topless.

When i was doing my wc i noticed some little shrimplets.
I tried not to suck any up.
I also took the top off the tank, and i am keeping the water level lower so they cant climb out.
I think my water level was too high, and the shrimp just walked on out.

I keep the water level all the way to the top, about 1/8" below the inside lip of the tank (part that the glass fits on) and never notice any shrimp jump ship. I do use a glass lid though. It's usually better to keep the water level high to control splashing. The shrimp that jumped out of your tank was a very rare event. I doubt it'll happen again. I always prefer to use a glass lid but most people these days have rimless shrimp tanks that can't usually fit a lid. I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

Yea i lowered the water level a bit, and everything doing good.
Ive had a ton of plant growth, and the shrimplets are doing good.
