I have 2! I check them against the standard alcohol therm. every so often to make sure it stays honest.

1st thing I did was check it against my fluval meter with a temp probe...LOl off by about .4. Good thing is I woke up to a nice lime green co2 indicator!

I have it too. I got a little worried when I saw it was accurate to + or - 1.5°f. Thats a pretty big swing. I kept my mercury thermometer in and it seems to stay consistent with it. Its pretty nice too, great for checking water change temp.

Does this look like the proper color for the indicator?

It's certainly regestering co2 saturation.. you'll be wanting a bit more out if it for higher light. I have the same and it's usually almost yellow. These particular dcs read lighter due to the white background. You're still on bathtub gin though right?

Yep still DIY so I guess I should be fairly happy that its that green.

Well looks like the rescape is off for today. Came home late last night to find another large batch of eggs. Look kinda light but until the light comes on its hard to tell. No one eating them this time and all the neon's are huddled in the other corner. Both male and female standing guard. Pictures are bad due to the low light but here is a couple.

Tried to get better pictures. The white on the rock is super glue so ignore that. They look tan or yellowish to me but still not sure if they are fertile or not. The pair seems to be loosing interest in them also.

They sound like they are the right color. Do you see a black line in any of them yet?

Unfortunately with contacts out or in with readers and where they are located ( wall 2" from side of tank) I cant get close enough to tell.

Sure make fun of the old guy.....LOL
The eggs are in the back right side of the tank so the only view is from the front. How ever I do have a magnifying glass that I inherited from my grandfather.

Even with the Mr. Magoo glass I can't get close enough to focus. I'll just wait and see what happens. The male is back to chasing everyone away so I guess that's good. I put a pre filter on the one that's close to the eggs. I haven't decided if I should set up a 10 or just see what happens.

Are the eggs clear? Hopefully your eggs turn out better than mine.

When I bought the Ludwigia repens I didn't realize I was going to have to trim them weekly. Here is a few pictures. I'm happy that I'm seeing growth from the DHG and the diatoms or brown algae is going away. Things are a bit of a mess and a few of the starts are floating but I really don't want to disturb the rams.

Tanish yellow. This is the second batch. The first batch the male followed the female while she was laying the eggs and ate them all as fast as she could place them.

Congrats on more eggs! Hopefully they are viable and will hatch for you!

As far as I can tell it looks like they ate them again.

Divide and conquer, but be warned the fry are about 1.5 mm/ .060" when it comes time to feed. I've actually resorted to feeding them newly hatched cyclops which just look like specks of dust in the water.
