24 inch light fixture on 20 inch tank?

I am looking to upgrade to a t5 fixture from zoo med, but it only comes in 24 inch. Can I still use it?

It'll hang over 2" on each side... but I'm sure you already figured that much out. It'll work... If it has adjustable legs. I've used 36" fixtures on 30" tanks several times.

A little bit of research suggested that the Aquasuns can indeed be adjusted to fit smaller tanks. It might look silly, but it will work.


Also, if this is a 20g long that we're talking about, you're going to be far into high light.

I've used 4ft fixtures on 3ft tanks a few times, there's some overhang but as long as you can make it fit it works fine.
