Always wanted fish as a kid.. now I'm 31 with kids of my own.. why not get my kids a fishtank!! Bought a 29 gal currently cycling with 4 danios.( Did not know about fishless untill a couple weeks ago). About 4 weeks in and am finally seeing nitrites go up as well as nitrates. So almost there.. anyways I wanted to ask about stocking.. this is a tank designed by my 3 yr old. Have the multi colored Petco gravel which I guess is not the best for planted? Which I very much want, currently have some plants which were given to me as gifts. So I do not know what kind they are. They don't look like they are doing too great. Would like to know what kind of fish to stock with and also easier plants that do good in the gravel I currently have. Definitely want some shrimp also. Any advice from all you pros would be much appreciated. My ph is at around 8.2 and don't want to really mess with it.. haven't read many good things about trying to alter the pH.. running a aqueon quietflow 30 filter. Temp is at a steady 78
