Hello,, I am setting up a 38 gallon mini reef and want some ideas on heaters and powerheads. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
Jeff

I use a Visi-Therm heater by Marineand. A 150watt would be okay in a 38. As for powerheads, I suggest two maxi-Jet 900s.

I like Ebo-Jager heaters, they are one of most popular heaters and with good reason.

Unless they have improved the technology of those oscilating nozzles( Power sweeps) they tend to stop oscilating unless you clean them a lot.
I use a SCWD to have alternating water current. It's cheap, and works well.

You could put a SQWD on a closed loop system. As space is a premium you don't want to clog up the tank with power heads.

stay away from the sweeps mine quit after a week and inless I clean it weekly
it stops sweeping. their way to big for thier gph

I use a RenaCal 150 w heater and a MaxiJet 1200 PH.

I also have a Magnum 350 Canister Filter which I mainly use to increase water volume and circulate water. (I run a bit of carbon to help filtration as well.)

and a CPR Bak Pak 2r skimmer.
