50gal mid-cycle

got my 50 cycling been looking at the setup and what not and keep seeing the photos of peoples planted tanks. I cant afford to add expensive lights or massive electricty killers. I would like to go with a simple double bulb strip light but nothing spectacular. I have 60lbs of sand. 40lbs of tahitian moon 20lbs of white caribsea.

My question...

what can i grow in this that will be compatible with 2 blue rams or 2 bolivian rams, 6 paleatus corys, 2 otos. 8 guppies (various colors used in cycling now)?

if its a rediculous idea let me know and will forget it, thanks for any input though.

Not really experienced in planted tanks but I have been doing some research. I found this site to be helpful. http://www.plantgeek.net/plantguide_list.php?category=1&filter_by=2. Also there is a lot of information in this section of the forums.

I hadnt searched completely through the guide... think i will give this a shot. We are looking at buying another larger tank, a 50 or 90 maybe, not sure. This plant thing looks cool though.
