Hi everyone I'm new to fish keeping but I'm loving the work that goes into it. I have a 36"x18"x15 size tank which is I guess 55 gallon but I look at it as a 50ish gallon tank.

So I first started off with 5 red coral platty and 2 blue platty as well as 2 bristle pleco. 2 weeks later I have just gotten 2 angel fishes and 3 panda Cory, to me the tank is pretty much complete other than I am wanting 2 dwarf gourami fish to really finish this off. I'm running a fluval 206 and a 600ltr HOB filter . The HOB will be gone soon so I can put a light on the tank instead of an inside light . I will upload some pictures soon.

Thanks any advice would be great

P.s there are plants in such as anubis , Java fern some other big bunch of stem plants etc, some big wood thanks!!

Keep up on testing your water.

The only issue I see with your stock is that IME Panda Cories are a cooler water Cory and Angels, esp babies like warm water. But some do ok.

You have room for more Cories. I prefer groups of 6 or more. You should have room.

What kind of substrate ? Sand or gravel or ?

If you read thru comments you'll see a lot lose them in warm tanks.

They can be a somewhat sensitive Cory.

C paleatus are a lot hardier.
C trilineatis are very robust
C sterbai like warm tanks

they'll be fine. just do water changes more often or bigger water changes when you do.

40g is a good size. Easier to grow plants than a 55g.

You may only want one Gourami as Gouramis are territorial. Watch carefully as in some tanks Gouramis and Angels fight. In others they are fine.

I would suggest considering a Pearl Gourami instead of 2 DGs but I'm prejudiced. DGs are prone to a disease. So make sure they come healthy or QT them before adding them to the tank.

You will need to rehome or buy a tank for the Angels as a 40g breeder is too shallow. They need at least 18" tall or more as their need room for their fins. It's ok for babies. A 55g or 65g is a better height.

If you want something just for a pair you could do a 29g ?

Veils need even more height.
