Started my 170g tank. How do I add the salt?

You mix the salt in with the water before water changes in a separate container. Do not add salt to a tank that is set up and running, it will burn fish's gills.

Thanks there is no fish yet. I filled the tank already can I just add the salt?

If no fish or corals, empty tank... Yes you can initially start by mixing in the main tank.

Add the powerheads and all the things (Don't add live rocks to freshwater plz). Then use a weight scale (better than put too much salt...) to put the needed salt directly to the tank.

it is best to premix it in a tub or something, it will not get mixed up as good in a large tank. Now is also the time to figure how and in what you are going to mix it up in for wc.

Best way to mix salt is in a bucket with RODI water and a powerhead, then pour the exact quantity of salt, mesure salinity, wait 3-4 hours or more, then put the new water in the sump.
