advice on filters

Hi, I,ve had my betta in his new tank for a week he's got his old filter running & the new one on the tank. How long do I need the old filter running for? I thought 2mths do you think that's ok? Any advice is appreciated

I can't remember if you we're able to add some media from old filter into the new one?

If you did seed the new then 2 months would definitely be ok.

If you didn't seed I would say 2 months at least just to be safe.
