Aggression in tank: Pearl Gouramis

I just got a new male pearl gourami, and my older female gourami aggressively chases him around the tank. I don’t know why she chases him- she just does. I read that these species got along with one another but it seems that isn’t correct. I have a 29 gallon with lots of plants, 6 platies, and 9 tetras. Anyone have any clue on why this aggression is occurring? Thanks!
