Greetings All, what are your thoughts about airstones in the final stage of the wet / dry sump? I don't run an air stone all the time. At night, I have my air stones connected to a timer. When the lights go out around 10 PM, my 36 W UV sterilizer kicks on ( external and after my 2 stage external filters) as well as my air stones currently located in my sump, just under the bio balls. After the bio balls, my water goes through a final stage sponge filter, before going to the power head and pumped back into the tank. I don't use the air stones during the day...only at night when my live plants use oxygen. There is no turbulance or bubbles getting into my return pumps. It is my thought that the air stones provide some increased O2 to the bio ball chamber, thus helping the aerobic process.
Thanks for your thoughts!
Dwayne
