Algae problem

In a matter of a week my tank is covered in a brown algae

Phosphates was my biggest problem until I added a DI filter to my RO filter. You can buy a test kit or have a LFS test your water. Are using reverse osmosis deionzed filtered water? Also old lamps and long lighting times will add to algae growth. I grow cheto algae in a refugiem to use the nutrients the unwanted algae is living on. Good luck!
