Algae Question

What kind of algae looks like brown strands and has clear bubbles at the top?

Sounds like dinos to me.

An article i found in how to get rid of it. By what I've read it's a major PITA to get rid of

Yeah, now that I've done some research it's like waging wAr to get rid of them.

I just want to make sure that it's what I'm dealing with and not something else. I'd rather not stress my livestock with a blackout if I don't have dinos.

Though, I can see how that would help with hair algae...

If its just in your sand maybe you can just remove it and do some major water changes

I read that dead snails are a dead giveaway.

Is this confirmation?

It's not just on sand. It's on rocks, on corals, pumps, filters.

It's all over in small quantities.

I feel like I have an opportunity to be aggressive now and wipe it out before it takes hold.

That's a good article on how to beat them. You're in for a long fight though as it is the single worst organism in the hobby IMO

Is black diamond GAC good or do I need something else?

Also, with peroxide, does it need to be pure from the bottle? The one I have says 3% and the rest is purified water.
