what does it mean when certain algae goes sexual and what does it affect?

It releases spores and built up nutrients back into the water. It clouds the tank up, I had grape caluerpa go sexual in my 125 reef 3 times and it did not effect anything that i know of. I took it all out after the 3rd time and got a different macroalgae.
