Have a pair of angelfish that have spawned multiple times and produced many young. All young have been removed once they reach a certain age. I woke up this morning and once again the pair had spawned laying eggs on an amazon sword plant I have in the tank. The only problem is the male will not allow the female near the eggs. He is protecting the eggs from her. They have never acted like this before? What would cause this? Will this always happen now? There are in a 40 gallon planted tank with Cory cats.

Is it the first time they laid eggs on a sword plant? When mine laid them on the filter the make would protect them like that, but the first time they laid them on a jungle Val they both protected them. Must be a male territory issue.

No they have spawned on Amazon plant before. The male seems a bit better to her today. But still a bit rougher than he has been before.
