I would like to know anyones thoughts about me using a normal sponge as a filter. Please and thank you.

Should be ok as long as it wasn't made with chemicals that are unsafe for fish. I know a lot of cleaning sponges aren't aquarium safe.

It’s one of those big bone shaped sponges you can find someone washing their car with. No chemicals im sure. Thanks you.

Hello jor...

You won't find a filter that's better than the ordinary sponge kind. I've used them for many years. They're cheap, easy to clean and never need replacement media. Be sure to remove and replace most of the tank water weekly and squeeze out the sponges and you'll have no tank problems.
