Api fresh water master test kit

so I just purchased a test kit it says to get clean water , so I assume that means the sink but that doesn't make sense if I want to know the parameters of my tank not the sink I get water from the sink but over time it would change correct ?
so the question is my tank water or my tap water ?

It just means water from your tank. It's always good to test a sample of your tap water, though, to have as a base. Just put some in a clean mug, let it sit a day to de-gas, first.
