Nope. their reproductive organs are in the long part of the body. They will climb all over each other if they are mating. Looks like one is cleaning algae off the other. I forgot what that part he has sticking out is called but its not to mate.

I am pretty sure that is a breathing tube of some sort. Was he on his way up to the water line as this happened?

It's his breathing tube. It can extend up to 6 inches when he's fully grow. It's like their snorkel if they aren't breathing through the water fast enough.

Yeah, my apple snail has a breathing tube that must be around 4 inch long, it's quite impressive. He normally gets it out as he approaches the surface.

Mine always do this but I've never seen eggs. It's been a couple weeks

I've only seen eggs once. It seemed like it took a really long time. It's hard to miss.
