Aquarium hoods

I have a 55 gal. tank with the standard hood that came with it. I am interested in upgrading it so that i can get more wpg for my plants. However i know nothing about lights or even where to start or how much this is going to cost me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

More than likely, you have a 40w bulb? This isn't as difficult as it may seem. Just a little DIY equipment. You can check this link for information on bulb sizes and wattages:

A good rule of thumb is, if you go over 2wpg, you may need CO2 injection.

It's two 24" hoods with i think anyways, just about 15w each. I'm not worried about co2 because it's something i want eventually anyway. If anyone else has anymore information it would be greatly appreciated!

2 24" versa tops would work great...these are glass hoods...ideal for fitting more fixtures...should be available at your lfs or at a local petco...
